CLINICS

Family Planning and Maternity Services
The practice offers maternity care and a full range of contraceptive services including the fitting of coils, caps and implants.

Minor Surgery
All the doctors perform minor surgical procedures. Your doctor can give you more details about this service.

Screening Services
The practice is firmly committed to preventative medicine and has a comprehensive series of services with this in mind. Our special clinics include:

- well baby clinics
- child health surveillance
- dietary advice
- well person screening clinics

We encourage a health check every three years for men and women, to detect high blood pressure or diabetes and to ensure your lifestyle is as healthy as possible. Please ask at reception for more details, or to make an appointment.

New patients are encouraged to have a well person check in one of our clinics. Patients over the age of 75 are offered a health check once a year.

Cervical smears are performed by the nursing team. They are usually carried out every three or five years depending on age.

There are also clinics for patients with particular long-term problems such as:

- diabetes
- asthma
- high blood pressure
- heart disease

CHILDHOOD IMMUNISATIONS

As part of the childhood surveillance scheme, we offer vaccinations and immunisations to children from birth to pre-school. These vaccines are in line with the current Government guidelines and are not compulsory, but we do encourage all parents and guardians to ensure all immunisations are given, especially in light of measles outbreaks in recent years.

The pneumococcal vaccine was added to the routine childhood immunisation programme in 2006. The very young and old are most susceptible to this disease. It can cause sinusitis, middle ear infections and may also affect the lungs, causing pneumonia.

If you think your child is not fully vaccinated telephone the surgery and one of the practice nurses will check their records for you.
